Abottabad Operation: What exactly happened

Islamabad: The hunt for the world’s most dangerous terrorist has had a magnificent conclusion: the death of Osama bin Laden early in the morning on Monday.  The details of the operation conducted by US troops came in hours after the attack took place.

Pakistan’s civil and military officials have zipped their mouths about the operation while America gives in the details of how they managed to track and kill their number one enemy.  It is said that the US Navy SEALs who were on the look out for bin Laden on board two helicopters had actually flown in from a nearby airbase in Tarbela.

“A US military C-130 transport plane, equipped with hi-tech intelligence gadgets, also flew from the same base to support the highly secretive operation,” a source told The Express Tribune.  And former chief of Pakistan’s top spy agency ISI also endorsed the information. “A large number of US troops, along with their war machine, have been maintaining presence at Tarbela since long,” said Lt-Gen (retd) Hamid Gul.

Witnesses said that the helicopters and the C-130 aircraft hovered over the mansion for more than two hours where Osama was said to be hiding.  The C-130 craft was seen flying over the mansion and the entire area for five hours.  Pakistani officials claim that they had detected the craft on radars despite its advanced technology to jam all defence communication system including radars.

American ground troops then raided the lair, the mansion where Osama was dwelling with his family and companions.  US soldiers fired at the men and women inside the house and recovered their bodies including Osama’s.

There have been reports of deaths of US soldiers involved in the operation.

A first senior administration officer of the White House told the media in Washington that a small team of US Navy SEALs carried out the operation, reports Tribune.

Though two top ranking Pakistani officials disagree with this statement.  They say it is impossible for a ‘small team’ to take action and win against the world’s most dangerous terrorist.
